Game #122 Nats in Philly for a 4-game series

The Washington Nationals are back in Philadelphia to face a team they are very familiar with. This is a 4-game series that will be heavily favoring the Phillies. We are at the 75 percent mark of the season with just 40-games remaining after tonight.

Based on last year’s win total of 71-games, the Nats need to go 17-24 or better to beat that total. To beat the 66-win total from FanGraphs, the Nats need to win 12 more games. There are just 41-games remaining in the season, and the rest of this season is really supposed to help to determine the players who could help impact the 2025 roster.

The Nats are VERY deep underdogs today, at +235 to win on the moneyline. That means if you bet $100 you would win $235. Bet $10.00 and you win $13.50.

Nats’ manager Dave Martinez has not pitched Kyle Finnegan now in 5-days. The Nats only needed Robert Garcia, Jacob Barnes and Eduardo Salazar in yesterday’s game. Garcia once again could not get the job done, and he had to be pulled after allowing 2-runs.

This is what the Nats schedule looks like going forward:

  1. Thursday: Mitchell Parker vs. Phillies
  2. Friday: Patrick Corbin vs. Phillies
  3. Saturday: MacKenzie Gore vs. Phillies
  4. Sunday: Jake Irvin vs. Phillies
  5. Monday: Day-Off
  6. Tuesday: DJ Herz vs. Rockies
  7. Wednesday: Parker vs. Rockies
  8. Thursday: Corbin vs. Rockies
  9. Friday: Gore vs. Braves
  10. Saturday: Irvin vs. Braves
  11. Sunday: Herz vs. Braves

Your top Washington Nationals on the FanGraphs’ WAR leaderboard has Luis Garcia Jr. atop of the WAR rankings at +2.7, and Jacob Young at +2.3 and CJ Abrams at +2.2. In total, 26 Nats’ players are in positive WAR and another eight are at a neutral 0.0 WAR.

“It’s a work in progress, but we’re starting to see progress. We really are. Young guys are starting to get it. We’re starting to play a little bit better. I love the way we’re coming out and competing every day. We’re playing hard for 27-outs. We’re getting closer.”

— Nats’ manager Dave Martinez said after yesterday’s game
