The Washington Nationals are now mired in a 5-game losing streak. Defensive mistakes have been costly, and of course the umpiring was a factor in yesterday’s disappointing loss.
Nats’ manager Dave Martinez‘s bullpen was shaky in the stats but the umpiring was certainly a factor in the issues. Martinez used five of his eight relievers, and Kyle Finnegan has not seen the mound since his blowup the day before the trade deadline when the start to the losing streak got momentum like an avalanche.
The Nationals are slight underdogs today, at +105 to win on the moneyline. That means if you bet $100 you would win $105. Bet $10.00 and you win $10.50.
This is what the Nats schedule looks like going forward:
- Saturday: DJ Herz vs. Brewers
- Sunday: Mitchell Parker vs. Brewers
- Monday: Patrick Corbin vs. Giants
- Tuesday: MacKenzie Gore vs. Giants
- Wednesday: Jake Irvin vs. Giants
- Thursday: Herz vs. Giants
- Friday: Parker vs. Angels
- Saturday: Corbin vs. Angels
- Sunday: Gore vs. Angels
- Monday: Day-off (August 12)

“Jake was good. Too many pitches. Not too many pitches, but he was at 110 pitches. Under the circumstances, I thought that was pretty good. I told him there will come a day where you stay in the game, but not right now.”
