Game #108 Floro traded and Finnegan retained

The Washington Nationals lost another 1-run game (10-15 on the season), and this one really stung as Kyle Finnegan had a 4-run lead in the 9th inning and fell apart to give up 5-runs and a walk-off. Well, Finnegan was not traded at the deadline — but Dylan Floro was — and he moved to the other bullpen as it was the Arizona Diamondbacks that traded for him. Corner infielder, Andres Chaparro, was the player the Nats got back in return.

For tonight’s game, it is another Patrick Corbin start in Arizona where he made his reputation as an ace pitcher in the NL West. The Nats made two roster moves by calling up Travis Blankenhorn and Joan Adon to take the roster spots for Lane Thomas and Floro.

This trade deadline had taken over all the buzz in NatsTown. After the dust settled it was Floro, Thomas, Jesse Winker and Hunter Harvey as the 4-players that general manager Mike Rizzo traded. All of the rumors of Finnegan trades never materialized, and the Floro market went soft which was surprising given how much hi-lev relievers were in demand.

Nats’ manager Dave Martinez‘s bullpen ended up using five relievers yesterday. Closer Kyle Finnegan threw 28-pitches to get just one out, and Derek Law, Jose A. Ferrer, Jacob Barnes, and Robert Garcia were the other four relievers used.

The Nationals are deep underdogs today, at +140 to win on the moneyline. That means if you bet $100 you would win $140. Bet $10.00 and you win $14.00.

This is what the Nats schedule looks like going forward:

  1. Tuesday: Patrick Corbin vs. Arizona (Trade Deadline)
  2. Wednesday: MacKenzie Gore vs. Arizona
  3. Thursday: Day-Off
  4. Friday: Jake Irvin vs. Brewers
  5. Saturday: DJ Herz vs. Brewers
