Game #104 Road trip!

The Washington Nationals had a page to turn when they jumped on their charter jet to St. Louis. With the sprint to the finish, the Nats hope to replicate what they did last weekend when they swept the Cincinnati Reds. Now they are back in the midwest for the start to another road trip with this weekend set against the Cardinals.

We are just 4-days to the trade deadline, and the front office, per a source, says that most of the calls are for reliever help, focusing on closer Kyle Finnegan and set-up man, Dylan Floro. Everyone continues to be on hug-watch and scouring their social media for news breaking on trades.

The Nats had a roster move today after Jordan Weems went on the 15-day IL with shin splints in his lower leg, and the team was able to bring back RHP Eduardo Salazar because he was replacing an injured player.

Thanks to Patrick Corbin going 7.0 innings yesterday, Nats’ manager Dave Martinez only had to use Jose A. Ferrer and Derek Law for an efficient inning for each. Jacob Barnes has carried most of the burden in the bullpen, and Finnegan has not pitched since Sunday.

The Nationals are the deep underdogs today, at +150 to win on the moneyline. That means if you bet $100 you would win $150. Bet $10.00 and you win $15.00.

This is what the Nats schedule looks like going forward:

  1. Friday: MacKenzie Gore vs. St. Louis
  2. Saturday: Jake Irvin vs. St. Louis
  3. Sunday: DJ Herz vs. St. Louis
  4. Monday: Mitchell Parker vs. Arizona
  5. Tuesday: Patrick Corbin vs. Arizona (Trade Deadline)
  6. Wednesday: Gore vs. Arizona
  7. Thursday: Day-Off
  8. Friday: Irvin vs. Brewers
  9. Saturday: Herz vs. Brewers
  10. Sunday: Parker vs. Brewers

Your top Washington Nationals on the FanGraphs’ WAR leaderboard has CJ Abrams on the top at +1.9 for position players and the team’s All-Star. He is behind MacKenzie Gore at +2.4. Jake Irvin is at +1.9. Luis Garcia Jr. and Jacob Young are tied at +1.7 as the second best position players. In total, 23 Nats’ players are in positive WAR and another seven are at a neutral 0.0 WAR.

“[Josiah Gray] had a reconstruction. He’s going to miss time, as we all know, but he’s doing well. He feels good about it.”
