Today starts the third time through the starting rotation for the Washington Nationals with Patrick Corbin on the mound. News broke this morning that the Nationals and free agent outfielder Eddie Rosario were in agreement on a minor league contract. That deal can pay the veteran a $2 million contract and up to $4 million after incentives, with a promotion to the Majors, reports Daniel Alvarez Montes of El Extra Base.
The Nationals’ outfield was crowded before the Rosario signing, and now you have to wonder if Joey Gallo becomes the team’s new first baseman as well as how general manager Mike Rizzo shuffles his roster.
Fans were obviously hoping that top prospect, James Wood, was going to make the Opening Day roster, and Rosario is another proven veteran in the mix.
Today’s game is on the road in Jupiter against the Marlins, and lefty Jesus Luzardo will get Dylan Crews into the starting lineup today. This game is on Marlins’ radio, and the hope is they have their video camera online for the game. Luzardo was originally a Nats draft pick and traded to the A’s in the blockbuster Sean Doolittle trade.
