Game #141 Nats have the Dodgers in for the weekend

The Washington Nationals have a weekend series with the Dodgers that begins tonight with MacKenzie Gore on the mound. There will be no Stephen Strasburg retirement announcement this weekend. He might not retire at all. More on this later because tonight should be about the game.

The Dodgers have been bit by the injury bug lately as have the Nats. The difference is the Nats aren’t going to be in the postseason and the Dodgers are. They have Emmet Sheehan on the mound and the 2021 pick out of Boston College was Jake Alu’s teammate there. Sheehan is a spot starter and has appeared in nine games in his career.

The Nats lost another player for an extended time as Riley Adams broke his left hamate bone, and will have surgery and get ready for Spring Training. He will be replaced by Luis Garcia on the roster making Keibert Ruiz and Drew Millas the only catchers on the active roster.

“[Garcia] went down there and did everything we asked him to do. Looks great. He was playing a lot better, playing with a lot of intensity, showing up early to the ballpark, getting all his work done.
