Game #138 Nats in a 4-game salvage today

The Washington Nationals were not sure if Josiah Gray would make his scheduled start today until he threw his side-session when the team returned to Nats Park from Toronto. Manager Dave Martinez declared Gray “good to go” and said he had a good session.

Now the Nats need Gray to be great today so the Nats can end this losing streak. The team is 4-7 since Stone Garrett broke his leg, and the Nats need their magic they had in the previous 38 games with that 24-14 record, to continue.

Drew Millas got his first hit yesterday when he was subbed into yesterday’s blow-out game. He also got to sub in behind the plate.

Unfortunately, starter Trevor Williams was blasted yesterday and blasted for 9 runs of which 8 were earned. In this turn through the rotation, fans were wondering who could be worse of Patrick Corbin and Joan Adon until Williams raised his hand and took his loss. The team ERA took a huge hit soaring to its highest level since early in the season with a starter’s ERA of 4.77.

“When [Trevor Williams] is down, he’s pretty effective. Everything he plays with is down: changeups, sliders, breaking balls. When he gets the ball up is when he gets in trouble.

— manager Dave Martinez said
