The Washington Nationals were honored to be chosen to play in the sixth annual Little League Classic game in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. They will play on national TV on ESPN with a lot of pride on the line, and if Trevor Williams can step up and deliver a gem for his team — the Nats can win this series and show the world that they are indeed on the upswing as a team!
All Williams has to do is follow the lead of rookie Jake Irvin who threw a 6.0 inning scoreless gem yesterday. With a day-off tomorrow, expect all hands available for this one — plus an extra set of hands as the Nats can expand the roster to 27 players for this game.
The team will add a 27th man to the roster as well as they optioned Cory Abbott back to the minors after his meltdown on the mound yesterday with 8-earnies in one inning of work.
“They don’t quit, and they play hard.”
— manager Dave Martinez said
