Game #111 Nats looking to win a series with Joan Adon

The Washington Nationals showed some more late night magic, and Andres Machado and Jake Alu were two of the unexpected heroes. Of course Lane Thomas cranked two home runs, and Joey Meneses‘ crushed the game tying 2-run homer for the big power display — but the full team contributed along with manager Dave Martinez pulling the right strings.

Before this game, the Nats called up Joan Adon for this spot start and placed Mason Thompson on the 15-day IL retroactive to August 2. Trevor Williams is on extended leave after he suffered a death in his family. He could return tomorrow. Adon took Williams’ spot today in the rotation.

If the Nats could win today, they would notch another series win. That would also be a little vindication for the Reds winning the series in DC. in early July.

At 6:05 pm, many Nats fans will be switching their televisions over to the Fredericksburg Class-A game to watch Dylan Crews in his debut there.

β€œIt was a great win. It was a great comeback win.”

β€” manager Dave Martinez said
