The Washington Nationals are in Wrigley Field for three games against the Cubs. For the Nats, it is MacKenzie Gore on the mound, and LHP Drew Smyly for the Cubs.
Good news on the injury front as Jeimer Candelario returns to the lineup after he sat most of the weekend with a bone bruise on his thumb. An MRI today on Hunter Harvey only showed a mild strain. Tanner Rainey is continuing to throw live BP in Florida at the team’s West Palm Beach facility, and Carl Edwards Jr. is set to pitch on a mound tomorrow. In addition, Patrick Corbin returned from paternity leave. The corresponding roster moves were Joan Adon optioned to Triple-A and Joe La Sorsa recalled from Triple-A.
“We got some good news on Hunter Harvey. Just a mild strain of his [throwing] elbow.”
