The Washington Nationals once again found themselves on the short end of the runs tally losing another 1-0 game, and for the seventh time this year suffered a loss with a deficit of one-to-two runs. You cannot win when you do not score a run, and another good outing by Josiah Gray was wasted due to a stall of the offensive engine.
“They’re just around the block, really, right? It’s business as usual. We try to go 1-0 today. … It will be a lot of fun tonight.”
— manager Dave Martinez said yesterday about this Battle Of The Beltway
Today’s starter is MacKenzie Gore who will get to wrap up this quick two-game series before tomorrow’s scheduled day-off.
It looks like the Orioles will counter with Kyle Bradish. The team did not announce that right away as their starter was listed as TBD through last night. Bradish is a right-hander with 1 2/3 innings so far this season.
Finally the Nats’ starting pitchers got their combined ERA below a number beginning with a 5.XX. The Nats starters ERAs are a combined 4.98 and that number is skewed greatly by Chad Kuhl and Patrick Corbin‘s ERAs, however credit to Corbin for improving in his previous two starts. Here is how they rank:
No. 5 Starter: Chad Kuhl 8.59 ERA
No. 4 Starter: Patrick Corbin 6.30
No. 3 Starter: Josiah Gray 3.74
No. 2 Starter: Trevor Williams 3.52
No. 1 Starter: MacKenzie Gore 3.00
