The Washington Nationals had a stunning come-from-behind win yesterday with five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to shock the Astros. The team’s №1 draft pick from last year,
Elijah Green, came up big with a hustle triple that would have been a stand-up double for most. Green plated two runs with the triple and then
Michael Chavis put the winner in the books with a two-run homer. Sure, they weren’t facing the Astros’ closer or even a player who will make their roster, but you take what the game gives you.
Today it will be
Cade Cavalli starting for the Nats with the hope of going at least four innings. The Nats will face another lefty starter today in
David Peterson. It is not your imagination — the 6-8-1 Nats have faced a whole lot of southpaws in Grapefruit League play.
Early this morning,
MLB Network decided to pick up the SNY coverage for TV. That will give us an opportunity to see many young prospects led by Cavalli of course plus we will see Green again,
T.J. White,
Trey Lipscomb, and
Daylen Lile. Also,
Victor Robles is starting which is good to see after he suffered a knee contusion that initially looked worse as he left the field on a motorized cart.
Today is also the day for the MASN appeal to be heard in the courts.
