Try to explain the unexplainable in baseball? The Washington Nationals were 1-12 before the trade deadline against the Marlins and since then have now gone 2-0 before today’s tough matchup against Sandy Alcantara.
The Nats top-3 WAR players per FanGraphs are still ranked as Juan Soto, Josh Bell, and Keibert Ruiz. They all played in most of those Nats/Marlins games along with third baseman Maikel Franco and DH Nelson Cruz, before the trade deadline, and ostensibly replaced by Alex Call, Joey Meneses, Riley Adams, and Luke Voit.
How can you explain all of the changes in top personnel and going from being dominated by the Fish to playing them to two consecutive wins?
Of course this game on the Vegas lines favors the Marlins with their Cy Young contender on the mound versus the crafty veteran Anibal Sanchez.
Before the trade deadline, the #Nats were 1-12 against the Marlins. Just 1 win. Since the trade deadline, the Nats are 2-0. How can you explain it @Nationals ? 🤯
