Tell us if you’ve heard the joke before that the Washington Nationals must win to salvage a series and avoid a sweep. Only this is no joke to those in NatsTown. Last night veteran reliever Jake McGee entered a 1-1 game as another Nats starter got too much rope, exiting with two on-base and one out, and the game’s outcome hung on needing two quick outs.
Of course if you watched that sixth inning you know it was a disaster with McGee exiting with a 5-1 deficit, and another loss just ready to become final for the 85th disappointment of this season.
Patrick Corbin will get this start and Luis Garcia and his questionable defense has landed him on the bench in favor of what manager Dave Martinez has penciled up as his best infield defense for Coebin.
