Up first, the Position Player of the Month for May is Joey Meneses for his outstanding performance at the plate. In 95 at-bats, he hit eight doubles, six home runs, and drove in 18 runs.
Meneses – a 30-year-old veteran first baseman and corner outfielder – hasn’t made his major-league debut yet, but many are speculating that he’ll be the replacement for Josh Bell, if he is eventually traded.
The Pitcher of the Month for May is Jackson Tetreault for his dominance over five starts. In those starts he only allowed four runs – all coming on a pair of two-run homers – over 25.2 innings, pretty remarkable.
It was thought that Tetreault would be called up for today’s spot start (6/1), but the call went to Evan Lee. With an open spot on the 40-man roster, it’s still possible that he’ll be added as a long reliever, if not, we’ll see him in D.C. soon.
