It was good to see the Washington Nationals win the first game of this doubleheader with a nice 6-1 victory.
Madison Bumgarner had a no-hitter going into the fifth inning and if not for a dropped popup, he would have taken his no-hitter into sixth inning. The Nats took advantage of the Diamondbacks’ mistake and poured it on.
Manager
Dave Martinez was noticeably pleased with the win in the afternoon, and that softened the blow a few mistakes.
Josiah Gray was not pitch efficient, but he was run efficient as he dropped his ERA to 3.14 after going 5 1/3 innings and only yielding one run. In the nightcap, it is
Joan Adon facing lefty callup
Tyler Gilbert. While Gilbert is the 29th man added to the roster for this doubleheader, the Nats added lefty reliever
Francisco Perez as their extra player.
Here are the pitching matchups for the next week:
Today’s Game 1:
Josiah Gray vs. Diamondbacks
Today’s Game 2:

Saturday: TBD vs. Giants
Sunday:

Erick Fedde can pitch on regular rest on Tuesday if the team decides to do that.
