The rain has been wreaking havoc for years now in Washington’s baseball schedule. The beautiful DC weekend weather, while the Nats were on the road, was replaced by rain yesterday that made it necessary to have a doubleheader today. The Nationals opted not to go with a spot starter for the tonight’s game, and instead will callup
Francisco Perez for that game as their 29th man.
Manager
Dave Martinez is looking at a need for a Saturday starter now as the rotation will look like this going forward:
Today’s Game 1:
Josiah Gray vs. Diamondbacks
Today’s Game 2:
Joan Adon vs. Diamondbacks
Wednesday:
Erick Fedde vs. Diamondbacks
Thursday:
Josh Rogers vs. Diamondbacks
Friday:
Patrick Corbin vs. Giants
Saturday: TBD vs. Giants
Sunday:
Josiah Gray vs. Giants
Monday: Off-day
Tuesday: Either
Joan Adon or
Erick Fedde vs. Marlins
The Nationals could send Adon back to Triple-A after tonight’s game and bring up another bullpen arm or keep Perez until a decision has to be made on Saturday. With the off-day on Monday, Erick Fedde can pitch on regular rest on Tuesday.
For the Diamondbacks, they will start
Madison Bumgarner, and they will callup spot starter, lefty
Tyler Gilbert, for tonight’s second game of the doubleheader. Keep in mind these are set to be nine inning doubleheaders instead of the seven inning double-dips we have had the past two years.
