The Washington Nationals and the Atlanta Braves are tied for third place, and there is a little nervousness in the A.T.L. They made one more DFA from their 2021 team as
Jacob Webb is gone. They’ve called up their top pitching prospect, RHP
Bryce Elder, to start this one. He had a great Spring Training and the 5th round pick from 2020 was decent in Double-A last year with a 3.21 ERA.
For the Nats, it is
Patrick Corbin in the second turn of the rotation. Corbin started Opening Day five days ago and was great for three innings and seemingly hit the wall at 60 pitches. He brings his 4.50 ERA into this game and hopes to build on that.
For
Dave Martinez, he goes back to
Lucius Fox at shortstop and lefty
Yadiel Hernandez in leftfield.

It is an early season scorcher in the A.T.L. with 85°F temps. We will see if the weather has any effect on the flight of balls and on player’s stamina.
In a late move,
Nelson Cruz was scratched from the lineup. He did take batting practice, and no reason given for the change.
