The Washington Nationals are back in Miami for their final NL East series of this 2021 season. There will certainly be a sense of déjà vu as the two starting pitchers will face each other for the third time in a month. These teams are separated by just two games in the standings. The significance of winning this series should set the cellar in the NL East as well as the fifth and sixth drafting positions in the 2022 amateur draft.
The pitching matchup is Erick Fedde for the Nats versus Jesús Luzardo who the Nats traded away in the Sean Doolittle deal. Luzardo at one-time was the top lefty pitching prospect in all of baseball.
Manager Dave Martinez has Josh Bell back in leftfield with Ryan Zimmerman at first base to get more righty bats into the lineup.
Some of the Nats look to continue some success like Keibert Ruiz who finally is hitting line drives consistently and that is reflected in the past 2 weeks as Ruiz is batting .292 with a .393 OBP and a .768 OPS.
