There has been a superiority complex in Braves’ country long before Sheriff Brian McCann acted like an enforcer in Atlanta. Maybe it started with Chipper Jones and the years of NL East dominance in the 1990’s when his attitude came out, and the tomahawk chop became a thing even though it was deemed inappropriate. Yesterday, Will Smith went too far. Just like the irony in McCann acting like the Sheriff before being the same player implicated in the Astros’ cheating scandal, Smith has been known to be a jerk.
In last night’s ninth inning, Smith zipped a baseball above Juan Soto‘s waist and hit him in the back. The pitch was nearly a foot and a half inside. We all have our opinions on whether it was intentional or not.
In 2015, Tony Cingrani nailed Bryce Harper and Matt Williams did nothing. Then Hunter Strickland did it to Harper and a fight ensued that basically ended @MorseBeWithU career. So what should the #Nats do tonight? https://t.co/9y7JABWJ4F

So, will manager Dave Martinez instruct one of his pitcher’s to get some revenge? We will see. This will make tonight’s game all the more interesting. The Nats have been a team that has not engaged in revenge plunkings.
On the mound for the Nats is lefty Sean Nolin, and the Nats will face Braves’ righty Dany Gilbert Toussaint aka Touki Toussaint.
