Today wraps up the 2021 Grapefruit League schedule for the Washington Nationals. After the game, they will head to the airport aboard their charter flight back to Washington, D.C. This finale will be with their Ballpark of the Palm Beaches’ neighbor, Houston Astros. It was reported after this game the Astros will head back to Houston where they will all receive COVID-19 vaccinations. There has been no word when the Nats players, and coaches will be vaccinated.
In this game, Stephen Strasburg will get the start in his final tune-up before the season, and he lines up perfectly for a Saturday start against the Mets. Of course they could pitch Patrick Corbin who pitched yesterday on Saturday and have Strasburg pitch on Sunday to wrap-up that first series. Stay tuned on that.
For the Astros, they are pitching Jake Odorizzi. He was a late arrival to their camp, and the Nats lit him up last week.
Before the game, manager Dave Martinez confirmed what we thought that reliever Will Harris will begin the season on the 10-day IL as he works his way back after he was shutdown with a misdiagnosed blood clot in his arm.
