Every team loses 40 games and wins 40 games — it is what you do with the other 80+ games that make the difference in the final standings. The Nationals blew a very winnable game last night, and there was plenty of blame to go around from managerial decisions to poor situation hitting to weak starting pitching to a throwing error to some inexcusable umpiring behind the plate. We have baseball today, and the Nationals need to start a new winning streak. To get back on the winning path, Max Scherzer starts today upon his return from the paternity list.
The Nationals will be honoring the expansion 1969 Montreal Expos on their 50th anniversary. There will be a pre-game ceremony and the Nationals will wear throwback Expos powder-blue uniforms. The Royals also came into the baseball world in 1969 which is why the Nationals decided to use today to honor these two teams. The Nationals will have Vlad Guerrero in attendance as well as former Expos Dave Martinez, Bob Henley and F.P. Santangelo.
For the Royals, they will be starting the righty Glenn Sparkman. In his last start, he was pulled at three innings after giving up eight runs on nine hits that included three home runs.
