The rain will be around the east coast for several more days as Hurricane Florence moves up the coast. The Nationals will be on the east coast for the rest of the week between Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta before heading indoors in Miami. There is always a possibility of a change of venue to the west coast to play these games.
For the Phillies, they need to get back into this NL East race as they are now 5-games behind Atlanta. They pitch the righty Jake Arrieta now in Game 2 today, and former Nats farmhand righty Nick Pivetta this afternoon in the first game of the doubleheader and after yesterday’s rain-out, the Nationals will stick with Erick Fedde for today.
With the postponement on Sunday and yesterday, the Nationals got two partial rest days hanging around the stadiums for their normal pre-game plus the additional wait time to call the game.
