Jeremy Hellickson pitched a tune-up game in extended spring training in Florida while A.J. Cole had a chance to prove Hellickson was not needed. Well, Cole gave up 10-runs in a 13-to-6 blow-out by the Braves to even this series. The Nationals 4-game winning streak was snapped and we all knew this team would not win every game.
The Nationals offense put up some quick runs, but A.J. Cole couldn’t get through this game with the run support he was given. Ryan Zimmerman and Bryce Harper homered in this game, and even A.J. Cole hit a home run. The Braves pulled their starter, Julio Teheran quickly in this game, and Dave Martinez probably stayed with Cole longer than he should have.
Onward to tomorrow in the finale of this 3-game series as the Nationals have Max Scherzer going and the Braves have Foltynewicz. First pitch is at 12:10pm.
