The Nats win behind Tanner Roark and some robust offense led by Daniel Murphy. The Nats clinch a series win in Cincinnati taking the first 3-games with the season finale tomorrow.
The Nationals needed a rested Tanner Roark to step-up and he did giving up no earned runs over 6-innings. Roark was not his sharpest but he also was victimized by 3 errors by his defense leading to 3 unearned runs. Roark did not have his swingback fastball working but the rest of his repertoire was including a good looking chamgeup.
The big news of the day was Mike Rizzo’s 5 player blockbuster for Ryan Madson and Sean Doolittle from the Oakland Athletics for Jesus Luzardo, Blake Treinen and Sheldon Neuse.
“You hate to give up Blake Treinen [in the trade],” Dusty Baker said. “But you have to give up something to get something.”
