Pitch Talks is a live speaker series on baseball, bringing together real fans, and some of the brightest minds in baseball for Q&A events in bars & rock clubs around many MLB cities.
The Washington, D.C. event will be on the next off-day on May 1st at 6pm at the Howard Theatre – a short walk from the Shaw/Howard U-Street Metro Station. Valet parking is also available. The event is sponsored by Homestand Sports which you can check out on Twitter and Facebook and YouTube:
Founder and CEO Kevin Kennedy of Homestand Sports told us about this event:
“This is always a special night for fans to get up close and personal with not only the journalists and teams they follow, but also with other fans. This is a place to grab a beer and talk baseball, as if running into these guys at a bar.”
Tickets are available from the link above as well as from Ticketmaster. And Homestand Sports has provided us with a Promo Code NATS, that will give you a a $5 discount on your tickets.
The currently scheduled speakers are:
- Adam Kilgore (Washington Post)
- Chelsea Janes (Washington Post)
- Dan Laing (MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM, Play-by-Play voice for American University sports)
- Dave Cameron (FanGraphs)
- William Ladson MLB.com
- Barry Svrluga (Washington Post)
Erika C. and I (DonH) will be attending and plan to write-up a summary for those members of the TalkNats community who can’t make it.
Monday, May 1 is an off-day for the Nats (between the Mets and Diamondback at Nats Park) so this is a great opportunity to satisfy your need for a baseball/Nats fix on a Monday evening. This is the only currently scheduled event they have about baseball in DC. Lets make sure to incent them to schedule more events in Washington, D.C. by having a good turnout!
