Gio Gonzalez went 7 strong innings for the win with 1 earned run, no walks and a final pitch count at 103. With the win, Dusty Baker won his 100th game with the Washington Nationals. The Nationals got many huge hits including home runs by Jayson Werth, Matt Wieters, and Daniel Murphy. In fact, Murphy had 4 hits in the game. Bryce Harper drew 3 walks and had a double, and all Nationals’ position players had hits except Stephen Drew who went down with a leg injury, and we await the prognosis.
With the Nats winning the first two games in this series against the Cardinals, the Nationals have clinched another series win and will go for the sweep in an afternoon game tomorrow between Max Scherzer and Mike Leake.
