As we reported early this morning, Mike Rizzo and Dusty Baker met after last night’s game to figure out some contingency plans for the Nationals bench that played 2 men short last night.
With Ryan Zimmerman being day-to-day with an undisclosed injury, he will be reevaluated today, and possibly moved to the 15-day DL.
One roster move is certain that Trea Turner will be activated for tonight’s game according to our source. We did not report this earlier, but we were also initally told that Matt den Dekker was going to travel to CitiField just in case another bench move was needed involving Ryan Zimmerman’s ability to play tonight, and it now appears according to another source that den Dekker will not be activated rather Rizzo decided to get a right-handed outfielder because of the weekend matchups as Matz is left-handed pitchers.
Also keep in mind that the only way for Michael Taylor to be brought back up before the minimum 10 days in the Minors would be to replace an injured player. Taylor was not eligible to be called up until July 15th which was the first game after the All-Star break unless a DL move occurred.
Stayed tuned as this is a situation that could change by the hour. At least 2 roster moves will be made and as many as 4 are possible depending on Ryan Zimmerman’s health.
