The Nats lost to the Reds 6-3, and tallied just 3 hits against one of the worst teams in baseball, but scored 3 runs on those 3 hits to keep the game tied into the bottom of the 8th inning. The bigger news might be Stephen Strasburg left in the 6th inning with an apparent leg issue, and the hopes it is nothing more than a cramp (see video below). It could have been his calf, his hip, his gluteus maximus, or his quadricep as the MASN broadcast showed Strasburg flexing his hip/glute/quad area multiple times and other times flexing and pulling at his calf. Hopefully it is nothing serious.
Three of the Nats additional baserunners came via walks and 2 of those baserunners (Ben Revere and Bryce Harper) were then thrown out as they were caught stealing.
Blake Treinen was excellent in relief. Felipe Rivero gave up a walk to Joey Votto and then Jay Bruce singled right by the glove of Clint Robinson at 1st base. The game then went into a rain delay tied 3-3 with 2 outs and Votto on 3rd and Bruce at 1st base. Kelley came in to face Adam Duvall and on a 1-2 pitch Ramos called for the slider in the dirt and Kelley left it over the plate and Duvall sent it out for a 3-run HR as the game winner. Just as quick as that the game was essentially over.
The boxscore tells it all as the 1-4 in the order were a combined 0-14 with 2 walks and 2 caught stealing.
