Game #54 Scherzer looks to go Aces again in series finale in Philly: Game Thread

The Nats wrap up this 3 game series in Philadelphia as the Nats will try for the 3 game sweep before heading on the road for a weekend series in Cincinnati with a day-off tomorrow.

Tonight’s game at it’s finish will be the 1/3rd completion point of the season, and in just 27 more games, we will quickly reach the halfway point of the season. Sample sizes are becoming more meaningful for projection purposes, and the weather is getting warmer. The Nationals are 11 games over .500 going into this game.

Max Scherzer and Adam Morgan are their team’s respective starters for tonight which is also the start of the month of June on the calendar.

We should hear shortly who the players of the month of May are. We can hope Daniel Murphy secured the top spot with his great finish to the month yesterday with another game winning RBI which came via the HR and Murphy finished with 47 hits for the month of May.

All-Star Balloting results were released today for the 1st time, and the Nats as expected will be lucky to have just Bryce Harper voted in as he is the only Nats player leading his position as Daniel Murphy is #2 behind Ben Zobrist and Wilson Ramos has almost no shot of being voted in by the fans as he is #5 in the voting for catchers.
All Star Ballot 846

The Nats were supposed to face the lefty Adam Morgan last year (recall the Adams Morgan and Foggy Bottom jokes), and the game was rained out making this will be the first time Morgan will pitch against the Nationals. Only 2 current Nats have faced Morgan before. Morgan throws the 4-seamer at 91mph as his main pitch, and works in a lot of changeups. Morgan throws 2 breaking pitching using the slider as his main breaker and will throw in a few curveballs in his repertoire.
