This is the early edition 1:05pm ‘getaway’ start time which is usually for teams to get away as they head on a plane for another destination although in this case there was no accommodation needed as the visiting Mets don’t even have a game tomorrow and welcome in the Dodgers to CitiField on Friday.
The Nats get to look forward to a 4 game series starting tomorrow with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Today’s game features lefty Steven Matz against Tanner Roark. We all know the secret formula is that Tanner Roark has to be throwing an Ace game today as Matz is looking to make a statement today. The Washington Nationals are hitting lefties an .857 OPS which actually rose yesterday after Ben Revere’s HR off of the lefty.
Matz and Roark almost have identical ERAs and are just separated by 0.08 as they are both in the 2.80’s before the start of this game.
Here are the Nats stats against Steven Matz:
That’s right, nothing to see as this is the first time Matz will face any of the Washington Nationals batters.
