The Nats won this game by a score of 6-4 and the game-winning RBI was from a Wilson Ramos HR. Michael Taylor was the offensive star with 2 hits and 2 walks. Stephen Strasburg worked 6 innings and gave up 3 runs for his 6th win of the season as he is now 6-0. Wilson Ramos raises his OPS to .963 and made some great game calling when it counted most as 3 different Nats pitchers struck out Giancarlo Stanton including Jonathan Papelbon for the final out of the game for Pap’s 11th save of the season. Shawn Kelley was excellent out of the bullpen going 1 2/3 innings of no run relief for his 3rd hold of the season.
On the negative side, the Nats left 11 runners on base as Bryce Harper was walked 3 times and the offense was only 2-9 in RISP situations.
Both teams endured the poor weather and got the full game in without delay.
“It’s always big winning the first game of a doubleheader,” Dusty Baker said after the game.
Nationals have now won each of Stephen Strasburg's last 12 starts, matching longest streak in franchise history (Jordan Zimmermann, 2014-15)
