Matt den Dekker last year came in to pinch-hit versus the Dodgers on July 17th, and hit a game-winning ‘Upper Dekker’ HR which was only the 3rd of his career. Tonight he arrives to the park in the 5th inning and you don’t know how his timing is, and he once again doesn’t get caught up in the situation, and steps in to pinch-hit 2 innings after he arrived at the stadium on a flight from Syracuse. MdD rattled the outfield wall with a bases clearing double for the game winning RBIs. You can’t make this stuff up!
If you don’t believe it, at least watch the replay:
Who needs BP, right @UpperDekker? Fresh off a flight, right into a pinch-hit go-ahead double! pic.twitter.com/n4p83sEz4Z

The Nats struggled with offense early on with some baserunning blunders and some bad luck hitting and some great defense from Inciarte, but the Nats clawed back from the 1-0 deficit to win it.
Stephen Strasburg had a solid start, but was also helped from his defense to keep his evening at 1 run given up. The bullpen was nails tonight as they combined for a bullpen shutout.
The Nats travel back on their Delta charter to DC and won’t get to bed until 2AM, but they will be happy.
That's a final! Jonathan Papelbon closes it out and the #Nats sweep the #Braves in this two-game set with a 3-1 win! pic.twitter.com/9CgjcVk0po
