It doesn’t take much contact to work against you. The Rockies got some 70 foot hits and some 125 foot hits, and they all look like line drives in the boxscore. Unfortunately those 2 hits that went a total of 195 feet combined were by the Rockies pitcher Flande. Scherzer pitched well enough to win but look at this pitch location on the RBI infield single by Flande:
Michael A. Taylor hit a monster HR to tie the game but Scherzer couldn’t keep the leadoff man off the bases in the bottom of the 7th which turned out to be the GW run.
